FATE
There is a natural order of things that enables man to see events before they come. For instance, "Pride goes before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall" (Proverbs 16:18). Also, "Righteousness exalts a nation, but sin is a disgrace to any people" (Proverbs 14:34). The inevitability of the future we call "fate." By following the natural order of things, we can see what lies ahead, what is fated for a person or a nation of people. Is there a fate concerning our nation? Absolutely! If we humble ourselves and serve God, the fate of our nation will be blessings and prosperity. If on the other hand we reject God, our fate will be cursings and destruction. Just as the psalmists wrote, "This is the fate of those who trust in themselves, and of their followers, who approve their sayings. Like sheep they are destined for the grave, and death will feed on them" (Psalm 49:13-14). There are many nations in the world, populated with more people than have ever before existed on the earth. Each nation is being led by rulers who determine whether or not to follow God. The fate of those nations is in the hands of those leaders and their followers. This is true of our nation as well. As a republic we can elect representatives who promote God and His Word. We are in control of our own fate. But we can also elect representatives who oppose God and His Word. Still, we are in control of our own fate. Either way, our fate is set. So what can we do if as people of God we are in the minority? We can do what Christians have always done: Pray for God to intervene in our nation's affairs while living our personal lives according to the will of God. By doing so, our fate as Christians is still insured. We will be saved. Jesus' sacrifice has fated our salvation.
